We’re pleased to hand over our blog this morning to one of our beautiful brides from earlier in the year. Here she tells us about her special day, and gives some great tips for those planning weddings!
What made you choose Ramster?
After we got engaged we each wrote down our must haves for the wedding and after comparing notes we came up with a few very similar musts: Good Food, No Corkage, unique venue, not too far, intimate setting. After viewing Ramster, it was clear this was the perfect fit for us. It was the first venue we both walked away from loving as it really ticked all our boxes. I loved that it would be a beautiful setting for our winter wedding and we wouldn’t have to worry about the weather as its all indoors yet doesn’t feel small/ crowded. I also loved that it had a history and was surrounded by the beautiful Surrey country side. My family would all be coming over from Canada so I knew Ramsters history would be a bit hit with the Canadians, and it really was! My Husband loved all this as well plus the samurai guarding the long hall.
Tell us about your wedding – which suppliers did you use? Did you have a particular theme?
As we got married on 3rd January we wanted to theme our wedding around winter rather than Christmas, lots of greenery and deep jewel toned flowers. Ramster Hall really lends itself to this romantic feel with its wooden floors and beams and grand fireplace in the dinning room. We just accentuated that feeling with plenty of candles and fairy lights. The best part about Ramster is that you really don’t have to do much in the way of decorating. It’s such a beautiful space with its own unique character and we didn’t want to take away from that, and instead just put in a few personal touches.
Most of our supplier came recommended by Rosie and her team as we loved that they knew the venue well and knew that it would allow us to really enjoy the day and not worry about things too much. Planning a wedding can be a bit stressful so having good reliable and recommended supplier is crucial.

Did you have any unique or different details that you would like to share?
We skipped the dessert during the meal as we realised from being guests at other weddings we were either full when dessert came or missed out on eating the wedding cake. So instead we had our wedding cake for dessert accompanies by a display of Krispy Kreme donuts (again being Canadian donuts are a must). This saved us a bit of money and allowed our evening guests to enjoy something sweet as well.
Tell us a little about Jacaranda and the food on your day?
Jacaranda were absolute stars on the day, not only did they serve up the most amazing food (which our guests are still talking about) but Jess and her team made sure everything was kept to time and made our guests feel so welcome. Little touches throughout the day and evening made everything seem so easy, although I know they worked really hard to make it run so well.
We love food so it was important to us when planning the wedding that our guests were not left hungry. We opted for a sharing menu which everyone loved! It made conversations flow and meant people could chose how much or little they wanted. We were amazed at the portion sizes, when we chose the shoulder of pork we really didn’t expect a whole shoulder table, needless to say no one went hungry!
We also went off menu for evening food as I wanted Poutine (Canadian dish) to be offered and Jacaranda were more than happy to accommodate.
What are your top tips for couples planning their wedding at Ramster?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions, Jess at Jacaranda and Rosie from Ramster are more than happy to help and have organized wedding countless times at Ramster they have an answer and solution to everything! Or will think of things you haven’t.
Rosie at Ramster makes it easy with only offering one caterer and one DJ (Mark The DJ) but she’s chosen the best and they’ll make your wedding day so memorable!
Is there anything you would change?
Not a single thing!
What was the best part of the day?
Its so hard to say what the best part of the day was, it was all just absolutely magical.
