Some weddings perfectly capture everything that makes Ramster so special. This beautiful celebration was one of them.
As a historic country house wedding venue in Surrey, Ramster offers something that is hard to find – a venue full of genuine history, warmth and character. Every room has its own story, every corner offers another beautiful backdrop, and the gardens provide a stunning setting throughout the seasons.
For this couple, the house became exactly what they had hoped it would be: somewhere they could relax, celebrate with family and friends, and enjoy every moment.
A Civil Ceremony in the Great Drawing Room
The day began with a beautiful civil ceremony in our elegant Great Drawing Room.
One of the most memorable moments came as the bride’s brother performed a solo violin piece during the ceremony. Later in the day, guests were treated to another surprise when the bride joined her brother for a special musical performance during the cake cutting, making a moment that no one will forget.
A Historic Wedding Venue Full of Character
Unlike many modern venues, our historic halls already provide a wonderful backdrop. Original oak beams, centuries of craftsmanship and elegant architectural details create an atmosphere that feels authentic.
This couple embraced that perfectly, allowing the beauty of the house to shine while adding carefully chosen floral arrangements by Angela Garwood that complemented the character of the building.
Their guests explored every room throughout the day, discovering the unique charm and fascinating history that make Ramster one of Surrey’s most distinctive country house wedding venues.
Dining in the Long Hall
Following the ceremony, guests gathered in the magnificent Long Hall for the wedding breakfast.
Expertly catered by Copper & Ivy, the meal was a wonderful celebration shared beneath the impressive timbered ceiling that has welcomed generations of celebrations over the centuries.
As evening arrived, Mark The DJ kept the dance floor full, ensuring the celebrations continued long into the night.
Making the Most of the Gardens — Whatever the Weather
British weather is always unpredictable, and although a few showers arrived during the day, they certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits.
Between the showers, Murray Clarke captured some stunning portraits throughout the gardens, making the most of the beautiful surroundings. Some of our favourite photographs are the joyful images of the wedding party protecting the bride & groom with umbrellas — proof that sometimes the unexpected moments become the most memorable.
Our gardens provide beautiful photographic opportunities throughout the year, whatever the season, and a little rain often adds its own magic.
Kind Words from Our Couple
After their wedding, the couple sent us this lovely message:
“We truly had the most magical day at Ramster we could possibly imagine. Everyone was stunned by the beauty and interest of the whole venue – people really enjoyed every detail! Ramster really needs no adornment – it’s just perfect as it is.
Thank you so much for all your help, it was a seamless day, and it helped so much to have all the suppliers you recommended – it meant we could completely relax and enjoy every moment.”
Receiving feedback like this means the world to us.
Our aim has always been to provide more than simply a beautiful venue. We want every couple to feel completely at ease from the moment they arrive, supported by an experienced team and trusted local suppliers who work seamlessly together.
