An autumn wedding is a beautiful time of the year to get married. We asked newly weds, Amelie and Robert, about what they most loved about their wedding reception at Ramster Hall.
What were the main features which attracted you to Ramster Hall?
The beautiful tudor setting with its wooden beams, wood panelling and fireplace. We also loved the Far Eastern items displayed everywhere as well as the stunning Japanese garden.
Why did you choose autumn to have your wedding?
Autumn is our favourite season with all its vibrant colours, something which the garden at Ramster Hall showcases beautifully. The style of the Long Hall with its wooden beams and fireplace also lends itself to a cosy autumn feeling.
How did the season influence your choice of wedding dress and outfits for the rest of the bridal party?
The autumnal setting definitely influenced the colour scheme. We mainly went for different greens and some light orange/peach tones. The groom’s green smoking jacket for the evening just so happened to suit the colour scheme too. I also knew that the colder weather probably means sleeves were the best choice for the wedding dress and I wanted to make sure that all the bridesmaids had a shawl to keep warm.
Tell us a bit about the seasonal wedding menu? We loved the cupcake wedding cake.
We decided to have chicken for our main and sticky toffee pudding. This is our favourite dessert, as well as being something you can only really get in the UK, which our international guests might have enjoyed. This was also our reasoning for serving Pimms (somewhat out of season) at the reception.
The cupcakes were our idea. I had seen a few pictures online and really liked the look of it. I then found Erica’s website, Iced Innovations, and her gorgeous floral designs, so we simply had to do it this way! The overall effect was great, and I think it also worked out a little cheaper than a conventional wedding cake.
Using sparklers instead of confetti is such a great idea.
Yes, having sparklers at the end of the wedding reception was really worth it! It also has the added benefit of making sure everyone is outside by midnight.
